Tipi Raising Brings Community Together
SEPTEMBER, 2023
In 2023, Friends of Michel Society came together to raise a tipi on land that was originally part of the Michel I.R. 132. This tipi and surrounding area will serve as a place of ceremony, gathering, and community events.
A tipi raising is more than raising a traditional structure. It honours the teachings, values, and traditions passed from one generation to the next. The tipi represents home, respect for the land, and the importance of supporting one another.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone possible. Here are a few photos from the day.
Stay tuned for upcoming events.
Upcoming Events
Whether it's a cultural workshop, community gathering, or the annual set up and take down of the tipi, we'll keep you updated on upcoming events and hope you'll join us as we come together as a community.
